These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Reading Assistant mobile application ("the App"). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms.
1. The Service
Reading Assistant helps users read English stories and books, look up vocabulary, practice with flashcards, and track reading progress. Some features require an internet connection or a Premium subscription.
2. Content
All reading content in the App is sourced from the public domain or similar freely usable materials, including:
- Bundled excerpts and fables included with the App.
- Full texts imported from public-domain archives at your request.
We do not provide modern copyrighted books. You may use public-domain texts for personal learning. Source attribution is shown where applicable.
3. Premium Subscriptions
Premium features (such as advanced reading levels, flashcards, statistics, vocabulary export, and bulk classic book import) are available through auto-renewable subscriptions sold via Apple's App Store.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID account settings.
- Refunds are handled by Apple according to App Store policies.
Apple is the merchant of record for in-app purchases. These Terms supplement Apple's standard EULA where applicable.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose.
- Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or overload our or third-party services.
- Redistribute imported book files commercially without verifying public-domain status in your jurisdiction.
- Circumvent Premium access controls.
5. Third-Party Services
The App relies on third-party APIs and websites (dictionary, translation, public-domain archives, Open Library, Apple). We are not responsible for their availability, accuracy, or policies. Use of those services may be subject to separate terms.
6. Disclaimer
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. Dictionary and translation results are for learning assistance only and may contain errors. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service or error-free content parsing.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App or third-party services.
8. Changes
We may modify the App or these Terms. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date above. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
9. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. We may discontinue features or access if you violate these Terms.
